Three swimmers collect medals
The Chatham Y Pool Sharks won 10 medals and earned the best performing team award at the Swim Ontario championships last weekend in Toronto.
Quinn Matteis was the top point-getter in the 14-year-old boys’ division by winning gold in the 400-, 800- and 1,500-metre freestyle and silver in the 200 freestyle. He was also fifth in the 100 butterfly, sixth in the 50 freestyle and seventh in the 200 butterfly.
Genevieve Sasseville won gold in the 100 butterfly, silver in the 200 freestyle and bronze in the 50 freestyle for 16-year-old girls.
Madison Broad won silver in the 100 and 200 backstroke and 50 freestyle for 18-year-old girls.
David Tran was sixth in the 16-year-old boys’ 50 freestyle.
Sasseville and Broad will swim in August for Team Canada – Sasseville at the world junior championships in Hungary and Broad at the Pan Am Games in Peru.
